MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Playing in the 100th game of the 2018 season, the Dash knocked off Myrtle Beach 7-2 on Sunday evening at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark to clinch a series win. At 61-39 overall, Winston-Salem (20-10, 61-39) is off to its best start through 100 games in the Dash era (2009-present).

After three scoreless innings from Lincoln Henzman, Drew Hasler (3-2) allowed a run on three hits to Myrtle Beach (12-17, 46-53) in the fourth inning. Following a single from Jhonny Pereda to lead off the frame, Jared Young singled to put runners on first and third. The next batter, Tyler Alamo, then stroked a single through the left side to give the Pelicans a 1-0 lead.

But, the Winston-Salem offense responded against left-hander Bryan Hudson (6-8). With one out, Laz Rivera singled and stole second base. Following a walk from Zach Remillard, Yeyson Yrizarri hit a grounder to the left side that Pelicans third baseman Wladimir Galindo bobbled, resulting in an error and loading the bases with one out.

After Luis Gonzalez tied the game with an RBI groundout, and Ti'Quan Forbes give the Dash a 3-1 lead by driving in two runs with a laser single back up the middle.

The Dash added two more runs in the sixth. Blake Rutherford led off with a single through the right side and then stole second base. Following a walk by Mitch Roman, Sheets bounced a single into right field to drive in Rutherford. Roman later came in to score on a sacrifice fly to deep center off the bat of Yermin Mercedes, upping the Dash advantage to four.

In the eighth inning, Winston-Salem strung together three straight two-out hits to score two more runs. After Sheets singled, Mercedes doubled down the left-field line to put runners on second and third. Next, Rivera grounded a two-run single up the middle to cap the Dash's scoring efforts.

Following two scoreless innings from Devan Watts, the Pelicans were able to plate a run against Tyler Johnson on a walk and two hits in the ninth inning. But, with runners on first and second and one out, Johnson ended the game with a strikeout and a flyout to secure the win for Winston-Salem.
