Byron Edwards Named IFL Defensive Player of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm Indoor Football team is proud to announce that defensive back Byron Edwards has been named the Indoor Football League's Defensive Player of the Week.

Edwards recorded two interceptions in the 35-34 win over the Tulsa Oilers, including a 42-yard pick-6 interception in the 3rd quarter that gave the Storm a 27-20 advantage. Edwards also finished the night as the team leader in tackles with 9 total (6 solo).

The Dallas, TX native is enjoying his first year with the Sioux Falls Storm, racking up 41 total tackles (26 solo) over his first six games, and has recorded all four of his interceptions over the past three games.

The Storm defense have been one of the IFL's top defensive units this season, currently tied for 2nd in the league in fewest points allowed per game (41.0) while leading the league in total team interceptions (16).

The Storm return home this Friday night (6/23/23) to battle the Green Bay Blizzard for the final playoff spot in the Indoor Football League's Eastern Conference.

Fans are encouraged to come out early for a special pre-game tailgate party starting at 4:00 PM, presented by Amy Stockberger Real Estate.

The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center doors open at 6:00 PM with silent auction and 50/50 raffle going on to support Afton Riggs (daughter of Storm Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs) while she continues her journey with CRPS. The silent auction will be live until the end of the 3rd quarter.
