AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Spurs, presented by SWBC, today announced they have traded forward Keith Wright for guard Wesley Saunders of the Westchester Knicks pending physical results.
Saunders, 6-6/218, went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft and joined the Utah Jazz for the 2015 NBA Summer League. He signed with the New York Knicks in September, 2015 and joined the Westchester Knicks as an affiliate player in November. Saunders played 33 games with Westchester averaging 4.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 18.0 minutes. The Harvard product was a three-time All-Ivy League selection (2013-2015), Ivy League Player of the Year (2014), Great Alaska Shootout Most Outstanding Player (2014) and Great Alaska Shootout All-Tournament Team selection (2014). Over his college career (120 games), he averaged 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 29.8 minutes.
Saunders will wear jersey No. 16 and join Austin for back-to-back games against Oklahoma City this weekend when the team faces the Blue on the road at Cox Convention Center on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. and at Cedar Park Center on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. For ticket information, please visit austinspurs.com or call (512) 236-8333.
