Amarista, Auer And Chatwood Make 2010 All-Star Team

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The 2010 California League All-Star Team has been unveiled by the California League today, with three Rancho Cucamonga Quakes a part of the squad.

Second Baseman Alexi Amarista, outfielder Tyson Auer and starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood will represent the Quakes in the 2010 California League / Carolina League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 22nd. The game will be hosted by the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Last year's Midwest League batting champion and Angels' Minor League Player of the Year, Amarista has been near the top of the California League leader board all year, currently sporting a .333 average, with three home runs, 31 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.

Auer is having a great year offensively, hitting .313, with two home runs, 20 RBIs and a league-leading 31 stolen bases.

Chatwood has been the Quakes' ace all season long, currently tied for the most wins in the league (7) and holding the league's second-best ERA at 1.87. The former East Valley Redlands star and Yucaipa native is 7-2 and has 62 strikeouts, fifth most in the league.

The Lake Elsinore Storm and San Jose Giants, the top two teams in the entire league, have five representatives each. The Storm will be represented by infielders Drew Cumberland and Cole Figueroa, outfielders Blake Tekotte and Daniel Robertson and closer Brad Brach. The Giants are sending infielder Brandon Belt, outfielder Juan Perez and pitchers Craig Westcott, Eric Surkamp and Justin Fitzgerald.

The South Division will also be represented by High Desert first baseman Rich Poythress and pitcher Kenn Kasparek. Lancaster and Inland Empire each have one player heading to South Carolina, with JetHawks' outfielder Jay Austin and 66ers' starting pitcher Nate Eovaldi both making the club.

Modesto has three players that made the club, with pitcher Ethan Hollingsworth, catcher Jordan Pacheco and infielder James Cesario getting the nod.

Visalia, Bakersfield and Stockton each have one representative going to the game, as Rawhide pitcher Bryan Woodall, Blaze catcher Jose Feliz and Ports' infielder Stephen Parker all made the cut.

Congratulations to all three Quakes, as well as the entire 2010 California League All-Star Team!

Just ten games remain in the first half of the regular season, with the Quakes trailing first-place Lake Elsinore by six games in the South Division.

The Quakes continue their road trip tonight in High Desert, then head to Inland Empire on Friday for three straight against the 66ers. The Quakes return from their current seven-game road trip on Monday, June 14th, opening a six-game home stand with Grand Slam Monday. If a Quakes' player hits a Grand Slam on Monday night, then one Quakes' fan will win $1000.
