Jackals Trade for Rights to Justin Bernhardt

ELMIRA, NY - October 12, 2015 - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that the club has traded for the player rights to Justin Bernhardt from the Wichita Thunder in exchange for cash considerations. Following the trade, Elmira signed Bernhardt to a Standard Player Contract.

Bernhardt, 27, joins the Jackals after posting the best statistical season of his career last year with Wichita. The 6-foot-1 185-pound forward notched 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 28 games for the Thunder and added 19 points in 12 games for ESV Buchloe in Germany. In total, Bernhardt has appeared in 126 career ECHL games and totaled 76 points (31 goals, 45 assists) between Wichita and the Las Vegas Wranglers. He also skated in 14 games for the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and added 12 games for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the now-defunct Central Hockey League.

Prior to turning pro, the Regina, Saskatchewan native accrued 307 games in the Western Hockey League and recorded 242 points (103 goals, 139 assists) combined between the Regina Pats, Kelowna Rockets and Prince Albert Raiders.

Additionally, the Jackals released defensemen Brad Bourke and Justin Apcar-Blaszak, forward Paul de Jersey and goaltender Brad Barone from their tryout agreements. Bourke, Apcar-Blaszak and Barone all participated in the Jackals Pro Placement Camp.
