BAKERSFIELD, CALIF., March 19, 2015 - The Bakersfield Jam (32-11) defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (24-19) 122-99 Thursday night at the Dignity Health Event Center. Jerel McNeal led all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting.

Bakersfield finished the opening frame with a 37-22 lead, shooting 57.7 percent from the floor and forcing 11 Rio Grande Valley turnovers. Bakersfield's stifling defense continued in the second period as they forced yet another double-digit turnover period (10) by the Vipers and held them to 33.3 percent shooting from the floor. The Jam opened a lead as big as 24 points and went into the half with a 67-46 advantage.

The Vipers won the third quarter 29-21, cutting the Jam's lead to 13 points entering the final frame (88-75). In the fourth, Bakersfield made 61.9 percent of their shots and outscored Rio Grande Valley 34-24. The Vipers got within 11 points at the 10:02 mark of the fourth, but the Jam gathered themselves together and responded with great execution on both ends of the floor to finish the game.

Xavier Munford tallied 26 points (11/19 FGs) and six rebounds off the bench, while Joe Jackson posted 21 points, 15 assists, six rebounds and five steals. Mac Koshwal added 10 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.

Rio Grande Valley was paced by Jaron Johnson (24 points, 8 rebounds) and Jarvis Threatt (17 points, 6 rebounds). Glen Rice had 16 points and Tony Bishop recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Jam will next travel to Texas for a match against the Austin Toros on Saturday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m. PT.
