Santa Cruz Warriors News Release
RENO, Nevada - The Santa Cruz Warriors handed the Reno Bighorns a 127-92 loss Saturday night, behind a double-figure scoring effort from five different Warriors.
Santa Cruz was led by James Michael McAdoo, who after being signed through the remainder of the season with Golden State, is currently on assignment with Santa Cruz. He notched 27 points on a 9 of 13 shooting effort. Mychel Thompson scored 24 points for the Warriors, tallying four made three-point shots. Elliot Williams had 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Ognjen Kuzmic recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.
Reno was paced by Tajuan Porter, who scored 29 points and 6 rebounds. David Wear notched a double-double for the Bighorns with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The first quarter saw Santa Cruz race ahead thanks to a solid 12-of-24 team shooting effort (50%), including 13 points from guard Elliot Williams. The Bighorns were held to a 26% shooting effort, as the Warriors led by as many as 16 points in the opening frame.
The Warriors maintained the lead for the entire second quarter, despite Reno's efforts to cut the double-digit deficit. Mychel Thompson's back-to-back buckets followed by a smooth steal led to a Dominique Sutton basket, which enabled Santa Cruz to enter the break on top by 11 points.
Santa Cruz came out of the break hot once again, leading for the entire duration of the third quarter and entered the final period leading by 21 points. The Warriors would never relinquish their lead for the remainder of the game.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will return home to face the Austin Spurs at 7:00 p.m. PST on Tuesday at Kaiser Permanente Arena. Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or catch the game on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, via http://www.santacruzbasketball.com.
