Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Adrian Sampson picked up his first career Triple-A victory as the Indianapolis Indians (66-66) pounded out 13 hits with three doubles, one triple and a Clint Barmes homer in a 7-3 thumping of the Louisville Bats (64-68) on Wednesday afternoon at Victory Field.

The red-hot Tribe has now rebounded from a 3-15 skid to earn victories in seven of its last 11 contests since Aug. 9.

Sampson notched the win after limiting Louisville to just two runs on six hits in seven solid innings. The Triple-A rookie hurled six shutout frames before a two-run homer snapped his scoreless streak in the seventh.

Robert Andino went a perfect 4-for-4 in the victory, while Chase d'Arnaud and Jose Tabata each finished 2-for-5 and combined to score three runs.

Pittsburgh Pirates rehabbing infielder Barmes took opposing starter Scott Diamond deep with a solo shot in the first inning to open the Indians' scoring, and just one frame later, plated Chase d'Arnaud's leadoff triple by lifting a sac fly in the bottom of the second.

Chris McGuiness then doubled home Tabata in the third to improve his season's totals to .383 (23-for-60) with 11 RBI in 16 games against the Bats. He also leads all Tribe batters with 50 RBI on the year.

For good measure, Tommy Field added one more in the fifth after reaching on an error and scoring on a wild pitch.
