Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons today announced that OF DALTON POMPEY has been promoted to the club from Double-A New Hampshire. INF MATT HAGUE, claimed off waivers (Pittsburgh) by the Blue Jays on Monday, has also been activated by the team.
The Bisons have placed INF ANDY LaROCHE and INF JARED GOEDERT (retroactive to August 18) on the disabled list.
POMPEY, 21, started the 2014 season with Dunedin (A) where he played 70 games averaging .319 with 49 runs, six home runs, 34 RBI and 29 stolen bases. Pompey was then promoted to New Hampshire (AA) and played in 31 games, hitting .295 with 20 runs, three home runs, 12 RBI and eight stolen bases. Pompey was chosen to the 2014 Sirius XM All-Star Futures game in Minnesota.
Rated the Blue Jays #17 prospect by Baseball America before the season, Pompey was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 16th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. He was a Midwest League All-Star and the Midwest League All-Star Game MVP while playing for Single-A Lansing in 2013. He also won a Minor League Gold Glove Award and was named a 2013 Blue Jays Organizational All-Star.
HAGUE was an International League All-Star for the Indianapolis Indians this season, his second IL All-Star selection (2011). In 93 games with the Indians this year, he hit .267 (88-330) with 16 doubles, 14 home runs, 66 RBI and 52 runs scored. He led Indy in both home runs and RBI before being designated for assignment last week. Hague also played three games for Pittsburgh in early July (0-2).
LaRoche has hit .248 (50-202) with 15 doubles, five home runs and 20 RBI in 60 games with the Bisons this season. Goedert has played 98 games with the Herd, collecting 14 doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBI while averaging .250 (86-344).
