Harrison with a gem

LHP Jordan Harrison kept the IronBirds' bats in check in the opening game last night. Harrison pitched six innings, allowed just two hits, walked one and struck out five. After Harrison finished his work, RHP Andrew Hanse and RHP Jaime Schultz combined for three innings of relief, together allowing just two walks and striking out four, without surrendering a hit.

Tough loss to take

RHP Sebastian Vader took the loss last night. He went five innings, allowed just four hits, three runs, two of them earned, and striking out three. He did not walk a batter. The IronBirds had three errors in the field, and had two hits in the game.

Off to a nice start

The Baltimore Orioles' 13th round draft pick Jimmy Yacabonis had a nice outing in relief last night. He came in and pitched the eighth and ninth innings, allowing just one hit, walking one and striking out one. He continues the success he saw this season with the Hawks. In his senior season, he was 1-2, but had a 2.02 ERA in 26 games. He had 10 saves and struck out 48.

On the mound tonight...

RHP David Richardson will get the start tonight for the IronBirds. Richardson pitched in 15 games for the IronBirds last season, making 12 starts. Over 61.1 innings pitched, he had a 5.58 ERA, 63 hits allowed, and 54 strikeouts on the way to a 3-4 record. The Renegades will counter with LHP Chris Kirsch. Kirsch will be making his first start for the Renegades. He spent last season with Princeton, the Appalachian League affiliate for the Tampa Bay Rays. This season, he saw time with the Charlotte Stone Crabs. In five appearances, all in relief, Kirsch went 2-0, had a 3.60 ERA and pitched a total of ten innings. Kirsch was born in Newtown Square, PA, and went to college at Lackawanna Community College in Scranton, PA.

Road trip

After tomorrow night's game, the IronBirds will hit the road for six games. Thursday through Saturday, they'll be at the MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. Sunday through Tuesday the ‘Birds will visit the Staten Island Yankees. They return home to Ripken Stadium Wednesday, June 26th to open up a five game home stand.
