Today's Game

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Gwinnett Braves in the second game of a four-game set from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd took game one last night as it beat the Braves, 5-4. This will also be the second game of an eight-game homestand for the Bisons, which will also see the Durham Bulls come into town beginning on Friday.

Last night was the first game between these two clubs this season. In 2012, the Bisons went 6-2 against the Braves, outscoring them 40-25 in eight games. With the victory last night, the Herd improved to 20-13 all-time against Gwinnett, with a 12-5 record at Coca-Cola Field.

Today's Starter

RHP DAVE BUSH will make his 12th start of the season tonight, which ties him for the team lead. Bush also leads the Herd with seven wins and a 4.23 ERA. His win total ranks 3rd in the International League. In his last start on June 9 against Scranton-Wilkes Barre, Bush picked up the win and pitched six scoreless innings, giving up only two hits while striking out five.

That's why they are designated hitters

The Bisons have gotten great production from their DH spot this season. A group of nine hitters have combined to hit .310 with 17 home runs and 46 RBI. INF LUIS JIMENEZ and INF MAURO GOMEZ have made 51 of the 69 starts at designated hitter. Jimenez has hit .348 with five homers and 19 RBI while Gomez has averaged .263 with nine home runs and 17 RBI.

Mauro Hits it Far-O

INF MAURO GOMEZ leads the International League with 18 home runs this season. The slugger has hit 11 homers and 22 RBI in 20 games since May 26. Gomez ranks third in the IL in slugging percentage (.581), is tied for the fourth most extra base hits in the league (31) and is tied for ninth in RBI (43).

Bisons Bits

INF JIM NEGRYCH is 2nd in the IL with a .349 batting average while INF LUIS JIMENEZ is 5th (.338)...The Herd's 77 home runs are 11 more than any other IL club...OF RICARDO NANITA leads the team with a five-game hit streak (6-18, .333)...Last night was Negrych's 25th multi-hit game of the season.

Blue Jays Update

Last night, the Blue Jays (33-36) won their sixth straight game with a 2-0 victory over Colorado. Former Bison INF MAICER IZTURIS drove in both runs with a single in the bottom of the 8th inning. Tonight (7:07 p.m.) the Jays send RHP ESMIL ROGERS (2-2. 3.21) to the mound against the Rockies.
