Aviators Walk-Off in Marathon vs Lake Erie

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Michael Hur's walk-off double to right-center field in the bottom of the 13th inning lifted the Rockfrod Aviators past the Lake Erie Crushers, 18-17, in a game that officially took 4:57 minutes. Hur's sacrifice fly in the ninth inning tied the game at 14-14.

Lake Erie and Rockford combined for 35 runs on 38 hits.

The Aviators led 4-1 after three innings, but surrendered 6 Lake Erie runs in the top of the fourth gave the Crushers a comfortable lead. The Aviators refused to give in and exploded in the seventh inning for seven runs, give them a 12-11 lead.

After a sacrifice fly in the eighth, Lake Erie added two runs in the top of the ninth inning on a solo homer from Andrew Davis and a Juan Sanchez double to left field. Rockford answered again on a Matt Greener RBI single and the aforementioned sacrifice fly from Hur.

After two scoreless innings and a short 5-minute rain delay, Anderson Hidalgo his a pinch-hit 3-run home run just over the right field wall to give Lake Erie a 17-14 nod.

Ray Delvalle came up big in the home half of the frame with a 1-out, 2-run double to left-centerfield and then with two outs, Jereme Milons singled up the middle to bring home the tying run.

It only took two batters in the 13th inning for the game to come to a close. Matt Greener led off the inning with a walk and came home to score on Hur's game-winning double.

With the win, Rockford clinches its first series victory of the season. The Aviators will go for the sweep tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. on YMCA Family Day.
