
Grizzlies Pound Greys in Homestand Opener; Win Streak at Five

Sauget, Ill. - The Gateway Grizzlies recorded season highs in hits and runs in a 15-1 pounding of the Frontier Greys Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark.
A crowd of 3,430 saw the Grizzlies collect 15 hits as a team, with five players recording two hits or more. Gateway (14-7) has now won five games in a row.
Jon Myers led the way going 4-for-4 with two home runs and four driven in. Jose Flores and Landon Hernandez both homered in the game and drove in three runs each. Jonathan Johnson reached base four times and Jet Butler had two hits and two runs.
Gateway scored three runs in the first, two runs in the third, two in the fourth and eight runs in the fifth inning.
Grizzlies starting pitcher Ja'Vaun West (4-0) stayed perfect on the season. West allowed only two hits and one run in six innings. The right-hander from Atlanta, MO walked four and struck out three.
The Grizzlies and Greys continue their series on Wednesday. It's an early 11:35 A.M. first pitch on Splash Bash day. Left-hander Gregg Downing (2-1) makes the start for the Grizzlies.
