
Grizzlies Sweep Rascals in Day-Night Doubleheader; Win Streak at Four

O'Fallon, MO - Gateway Grizzlies starting pitching tamed the River City Rascals bats Saturday as the Grizzlies won both games in a split-site day-night doubleheader.
The Grizzlies defeated the Rascals 2-0 in game one at GCS Ballpark and 4-2 in game two at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
Gateway has now won four games in a row, which is their longest win streak of the season.
In game one, Gateway (13-7) and River City (8-12) combined for only four hits with the Grizzlies picking up their second shutout win of the season.
Grizzlies catcher Matt Mirabal smashed a solo home run in the third inning to give his team an early lead and Antone DeJesus added an insurance run on a hit-by-pitch RBI in the seventh inning.
Tucker Jensen (2-0) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and fired seven scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. The right-hander from Ormond Beach, FL walked six batters and struck out four.
Jason Sullivan pitched a perfect eighth inning and Richard Barrett picked up his sixth save of the season and his second in as many days.
In game two, Landon Hernandez drove in three runs to pace the Grizzlies to a win.
Hernandez hit his third home run of the season in the second inning to give Gateway the early lead.
River City scored two runs in the fifth, but the Grizzlies answered with a two-out rally in the eighth inning, scoring two runs to take a lead on a Hernandez two-run single.
Jon Myers provided insurance with a ninth inning home run. It was his third of the season.
Starting pitcher Tim Brown (3-2) pitched eight superb innings to notch the win for the Grizzlies. Brown, a right-hander from St. Louis, allowed only one earned run.
Zac Treece pitched the ninth inning and notched his second save of the season.
The Grizzlies and Rascals finish up their four-game series on Sunday at T.R. Highes Ballpark with the Grizzlies looking for the sweep. Right-hander Chris Enourato (1-2) makes the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05.
