Salisbury, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws (19-24) came flying out of the gate, plated six runs over the first three frames, and cruised to the 9-2 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds (19-24) Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The win marked the fourth in five games against Delmarva this season.

Lakewood wasted no time and took advantage of a shaky start from the Shorebirds' righty, Parker Bridwell. Roman Quinn was hit by the first pitch of the game, and Chace Numata worked a walk for the first two Lakewood baserunners.

Brian Pointer followed and hit an RBI single to right that plated speedy shortstop and gave the BlueClaws the 1-0 lead. With two down in the inning it was Larry Greene, Jr. who connected for another RBI single and doubled the lead to 2-0 after a half inning.

The BlueClaws added a run on another Pointer single in the second, and upped the lead to 6-0 with a trio of runs in the third. Art Charles and Willie Carmona hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning.

With the bases loaded, Mitch Walding hit into a fielder's choice, but plated two runs on a throwing error by second baseman Torsten Boss. Quinn brought Walding home on an RBI single three hitters later to cap off the scoring in the inning.

The 'Claws duplicated the effort in the third, and added three more in the fourth. Bridwell (2-5) allowed the first four to reach in the inning before his night was over.

The first two runs scored on a misplayed ball that skipped by the first baseman Connor Narron off the bat of Greene, Jr. Walding brought home Carmona with an RBI groundout to second and gave the BlueClaws the 9-0 advantage.

Shane Watson took the mound for the BlueClaws and was outstanding in his eighth start of the year. The righty did not let his offense down and delivered four and one-third innings of hitless ball. Watson (3-3) finished five innings and allowed just the one hit; he walked two, hit one, and struck out four.

Jeb Stefan was the first out of the pen and tossed two scoreless, before he handed the ball to Zach Cooper.

The righty allowed the two runs for the Shorebirds and gave up a solo homerun to Lucas Herbst in the eighth for the first tally. In the ninth Joel Hutter hit a leadoff triple and scored on an RBI groundout. Cooper fanned Boss to end the game.

Matt Hobgood took over for Bridwell in the fourth and was outstanding in relief. The righty pitched the next five innings in scoreless fashion and allowed, one hit and one walk, while he struck out seven.

In the win, both Numata and Charles extended their respective on-base streaks to 22, and 21 straight games each.
