West Virginia Rides 3 Home Runs to Win

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 21, 2013) -- Stetson Allie blasted a pair of home runs to lead the West Virginia Power to a 9-3 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The Power (23-22) will play for a series sweep in Kannapolis (15-26) on Wednesday at 10:05 a.m. as the Intimidators host their second Education Day game of the season.

Allie put the Power ahead with a two-run shot (11) to the opposite field in the first and added his second blast, a solo bomb (12), in the sixth. Dilson Herrera also added a long fly, a two-run home run (5) off reliever Ryan Bollinger in the sixth inning. Herrera finished 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored while Allie went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Max Moroff added a pair of two- out RBI-singles in the second and fourth innings for the Power

Power starter Orlando Castro (4-3) allowed just three base runners over six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk to earn the win.

Kannapolis starter Euclides Leyer worked five innings, allowing six runs on seven hits. Leyer (2-5) walked three and struck out three the loss. Ryan Bollinger gave up a pair of home runs in the sixth inning before working perfect 7th and 8th innings. Todd Kibby opened the ninth inning with consecutive walks before retiring the next three batters.

The Intimidators tried to make things interesting in the ninth inning. With two outs and trailing 9-1, Kale Kiser tripled and Micah Johnson walked. Michael Johnson -- who extended his on-base streak to 15 games with a first inning single -- came through with a two-run base hit in the final frame. Johnson and Johnson led the Intimidators offense with two hits apiece.

Micah Johnson added his Minor League leadig 40th stolen base of the season, swiping third base in the first inning.

The Intimidators and Power conclude this three-game series Wednesday at 10:05 a.m. as RHP Brandon Brennan (1-6, 7.96) takes the mound for the Intimidators against Power starter RHP Clay Holmes (1-3, 5.50).
