Chasers Turn Tables with Two-Out RBIs in 4-3 Win

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (21-20) earned a series split with the Las Vegas 51s (20-21) by taking the finale 4-3, with a pair of two-out hits in the sixth inning by Xavier Nady and Anthony Seratelli proving to be the difference in the win after the Chasers had been victim to 14 runs on two-out hits by Las Vegas in the previous three games. The win moves the Storm Chasers to within one game of division leader Memphis, who fell to Tacoma on a walk-off home run at Cheney Stadium.

After the 51s took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a RBI single by designated hitter Josh Satin and a sacrifice fly by first baseman Andrew Brown, the Chasers battled back with Paulo Orlando notching his seventh hit in his last six games on a RBI single in the third and Max Ramirez continuing his scorching hot month of May with his team-leading eighth homer of the season in the fourth. Ramirez is batting .404 in 13 games this month with five home runs, one of only five players in the Pacific Coast League with that many homers in May and one of four players in the league with a .400 or better average.

The two teams played half of the game before rain set in at Werner Park and forced an hour and ten minute delay, the seventh delay in the ballpark's two-plus year history. After play resumed with Vegas leading 3-2 on a Wilmer Flores solo shot just before the delay in the fifth, right-handers Brian Sanches and Michael Mariot tossed four scoreless innings to preserve the tenth one-run victory of the year for the Storm Chasers. Mariot earned his fifth save of the season, after the former University of Nebraska standout had only six career saves entering this year in 76 professional appearances.

With two hits in the game, Seratelli now has 14 hits in his last nine games and has hit safely in all but one of those games. Nady has at least one hit in 11 consecutive starts, and owns the best batting average among current Storm Chasers hitters at .329. Both players have not seen their batting average dip below .300 since April 25 (a span of 21 games).

Omaha next welcomes the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres to town for their only meeting with the Tucson Padres in 2013. The Storm Chasers will send out right-hander Nate Adcock (2-3, 6.75), who is looking for his first victory since April 19, with first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
