Patriots Mike Wilson and Erik Arnesen Have Contracts Purchased by Major League Organizations

Bridgewater, NJ - The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that the contracts for outfielder Mike Wilson and right-handed pitcher Erik Arnesen have been purchased by Major League organizations.

Wilson will join the San Diego Padres organization at the Triple-A level. He was batting .325 with 27 hits, five doubles, a triple, three homeruns, and 18 RBI in 23 games for the Patriots this season before being signed.

He appeared in eight games for the Seattle Mariners during the 2011 season. In addition, he has four seasons of Triple-A experience with the team, including all of last year.

He hit 27 home runs and drove in 84 runs at Double-A during the 2008 season.

Prior to this season, Wilson had a minor league career .267 average, 876 hits, 184 doubles, 17 triples, 157 homeruns, and 571 RBI in 918 games played.

Arnesen will report to Double-A for the Oakland Athletics. He started five games for the Patriots, compiling a 2-1 record with 27 strikeouts in 30.2 innings pitched.

He spent his entire career before joining the Patriots in the Washington Nationals organization, including three seasons at the Triple-A level.

Arnesen spent the 2012 season in Triple-A Syracuse and finished with a 3-4 record, a 3.53 ERA, and 46 strikeouts in 63.2 innings pitched in 33 games.

In 2011, he finished with an 8-4 record, a 2.43 ERA, and 122 strikeouts in 126 innings pitched in 26 games at Double-A Harrisburg.

Before joining the Patriots, Arnesen had a 48-44 record, a 3.66 ERA, and 598 strikeouts in 778.2 innings pitched.
