Hitmen Take 2-1 Series Lead

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen have taken a 2-1 series lead in the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship with a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings Tuesday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Former Hitmen forward Trevor Cheek opened the scoring for Edmonton, netting the lone goal of the first period. The Hitmen responded with five-straight goals in the middle frame from Greg Chase, Brady Brassart, Elliott Peterson, Calder Brooks and Victor Rask. Curtis Lazar rounded out the scoring for the visitors, posting the only goal in the final frame.

Chris Driedger made 32 saves, including 27 in the final 40 minutes, to record the win as the Oil Kings outshot the Hitmen 34-29.

Calgary returns to action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24, for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
