PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers today announced that defender David Horst underwent successful surgery to repair a displaced tibial plateau fracture of his right leg. The procedure was performed by Timbers Director of Medicine Dr. Richard Edelson at Sports Medicine Oregon in Tigard, Ore.
Horst sustained the injury in the first half of Saturday's win over the Houston Dynamo and is expected to be out six months.
Recently returning from a preseason injury, Horst made his season debut March 30 in the club's 2-2 road draw against the Colorado Rapids. In three seasons with the club, Horst has played in 39 matches (34 starts) and scored his first MLS goal last season.
