Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Monday the acquisition of 19-year-old Argentinean midfielder Maximiliano Rodriguez who will be on loan with the club for the 2013 MLS season. As per league policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Rodriguez joins the Impact from Argentinos Juniors of the Primera A (Argentina's first division). He was part of Atletico Madrid's youth academy between 2007 and 2009, in Spain, before returning to Argentina. He will train with the Impact's first team starting today.
"He is a young player that has a lot of potential," said Impact sporting director Nick De Santis. "We have been following him for over six months and I also had the chance to see him play in Argentina. He is a technically gifted player with a lot of raw talent. We feel that with some time on the field training with our experienced players and coaches, his talent can be refined. He is a young developmental project with a big upside."
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Rodriguez appeared in eight games for Argentinos Juniors since his debut with the club in 2010.
