Lethbridge, AB - The Midget AAA hockey season continues for 2011 Lethbridge Hurricanes bantam draft pick Kolten Olynek and his Saskatoon Contacts. The 2nd round, 25th overall pick is competing at the Western Regionals starting today in Kenora, ON with a berth to the 2013 TELUS Cup on the line.

For the second straight year, the Saskatoon Contacts won the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League over the Prince Albert Mintos. The Contacts won provincials with a 3-1 victory in the 5th and deciding game over two other Canes draft picks - Bryton Sayers and Kody White. Olynek, 17, had an outstanding season with the Contacts, finishing second in league and team scoring with 69 points (31G, 38A) in 38 games. He followed that up with 7 points (2G, 5A) in 9 playoff games. Olynek was a key to the Contacts all season long registering nearly two points a game, but he was also called up to play in four games with the Hurricanes. He finished the season with two points in his four games played, scoring his first career WHL goal on February 9th in a 5-2 loss to the Blades in his hometown of Saskatoon.

Western Regionals also features the host Kenora Thistles, the Thunder Bay Kings and Winnipeg Wild. In 2011-2012, the Contacts finished Regionals with a 2-1-2 record and claimed the Bronze medal.

The 2013 TELUS Cup takes place in Sault Ste. Marie, ON from April 22nd - 28th.
