Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Drew MacIntyre has been loaned to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. In a separate transaction previously completed, forward Matt Pope was recalled to Hershey from Reading. The Royals also suspended defenseman Matt Spiller, whose ECHL rights were claimed off waivers yesterday.
This marks the second trip of the season to the AHL for MacIntyre, a tenth year pro from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. A veteran of 284 AHL games, MacIntyre was loaned to the Hershey Bears in mid-January but did not appear in a game for the Bears before being returned to Reading. In ten appearances with the Royals this season, MacIntyre has compiled a record of 6-3-1-0 with a 1.93 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.
Pope, a fifth year pro from Langley, British Columbia, was loaned to Reading by the Bears last Friday. He played in the Royals' three games last weekend, recording a pair of assists in Reading's 3-0 win in Wheeling on Saturday and an assist on the Royals' first goal in Sunday's 5-2 win over Kalamazoo on Sunday. In six games with Reading this year, Pope has registered six points (1g-5a) and four penalty minutes and has played to a plus-4 (+4) in those games. In twenty-eight games with the Bears this season, Pope has five points (1g-4a) and eight penalty minutes.
The Royals return to action tomorrow (Wednesday, February 13 @ 7:05 pm) when the team faces the Elmira Jackals at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. It's Ladies Night when you can get two tickets and a Royals' hat for only $20.00. Select draft beer (12 oz.) is also just $2.50. The Game Day Broadcast on Wednesday kicks off at 6:35 pm on CBS Sports Radio (1240 am and 98.5 fm).
