Niedermayer Retirement Night Fast Approaching

After spending the weekend in Prince George, the Blazers make their way to Vancouver Island and Kennewick, Washington this week before returning to ISC to host the Royals on Saturday. The team will have traveled approximately 2700 kilometres in the week leading up to Saturday's home game.

The Blazers play in Victoria against the Royals on both Tuesday and Wednesday night then will play in Kennewick against the Tri-City Americans on Friday night. All 3 road games are a 7pm start and can be heard on Radio NL 610am or radionl.com.

On Saturday at ISC the Blazers will play host to the Royals as the two teams face off for the 3rd time in 5 days. Saturday's game is also an A&W Teen Burger Night!

With a full building expected for the retirement of Scott Niedermayer's #28 on Friday, January 25th at ISC, the Blazers are offering an additional incentive for fans to pick up their tickets early. Any tickets purchased in person or over the phone from the Kamloops Blazers Box Office at Interior Savings Centre from Monday, January 14th at 9am until Friday, January 18th at 5pm will enter the purchaser into a draw to win a framed and autographed 8x10 photo of Scott Niedermayer playing for Team Canada at the 2010 Olympic Games. Fans who purchase tickets during this time will receive one entry per ticket purchased.

Niedermayer, who was named as an Assistant Coach with the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, will be in attendance along with his family for the retirement ceremony prior to the opening faceoff on January 25th when the Blazers host the Prince Albert Raiders. Scott Niedermayer played for the Blazers from 1989-1992 and won a Memorial Cup with the club as well as CHL Scholastic Player of the Year and World Junior Gold with Canada before moving onto an illustrious professional career that saw him win 4 Stanley Cups, World Cup Gold, IIHF World Championship Gold, 2 Olympic Gold medals, the Norris Trophy and the Conn Smythe Trophy. He retired from the NHL after 17 seasons.

This will be the first time the Kamloops Blazers organization has retired a player's number since Mark Recchi's #8 was retired in 1990. Other notable details of the night will be commemorative messages from former teammates and coaches, additional Blazers alumni in attendance, and a special edition printed photo for fans who attend the game.

Tickets purchased online are not eligible for this promotion; tickets must be purchased in person or over the phone from the Blazers Box Office. Winner will be contacted on Monday, January 21st. Some ticket voucher restrictions apply for this game. Only tickets purchased for Friday, January 25th will be eligible for this promotion.
