Aces Top Eagles 4-1 for Sixth Straight Win

Gerald Coleman stopped 21 of 22 shots against, four different Alaska Aces scored, and the Aces never trailed for the fifth straight game, earning a 4-1 win over the Colorado Eagles at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night . The Aces matched their season-high winning streak, with their sixth consecutive victory. Alaska bettered their league-leading record to 24-8. They are now 12-2 all-time against Colorado, including an unblemished 9-0 at Sullivan Arena. The Aces and Eagles are back to complete the 2012 calendar year on Saturday and Monday at 7:15pm. The Aces and the Eagles played a scoreless opening period where Alaska outshot Colorado 14-6.

Alaska broke the scoreless tie in the second period with a power play goal at 8:41. Joey Crabb set up a cutting Sean Curry, who snuck down the zone to just outside the crease, and Curry tallied his third of the year. The Aces outshot the Eagles 7-4 in the second period and took a 1-0 lead into the third.

The Eagles tied the game on a Dylan Hood breakaway goal at 8:14 after a turnover at the Colorado blue line. But Alaska answered immediately. Zach Harrison scored his eighth goal of the season to match a career high at 10:02 to make it 2-1 Alaska. Chris Clackson found Harrison in the slot from the corner for his first point with the Aces. Bobby Hughes then scored on a power play at 12:05 to extend the Aces lead to 3-1. Clackson finished the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:20 to complete a two-point night and the Aces win. Brandon Dubinsky, who was activated off the IR earlier on Friday, played in his first game in seven weeks, assisted on Clackson's goal, registered four shots and was a +1.

Gerald Coleman (10-2) earned the win, making 21 saves on 22 shots, matching his season-long winning streak of five games. Adam Brown (6-2-1) made 28 saves on 31 shots, taking the loss. The Aces went 2-5 on the power play and the Eagles were 0-3. Alaska outshot Colorado 32-22 in the game.

The Aces and Eagles are back to complete the 2012 calendar year on Saturday and Monday at 7:15pm.
