Atlanta Gladiators News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Tyler Murovich scored the lone goal for the Gladiators to break up a shutout late in the third, but Gwinnett fell 3-1 to the Greenville Road Warriors on Thursday night at the BI-LO Center.

The loss snaps Gwinnett's three-game winning streak, but the Gladiators (18-7-1-0) remain atop the South Division and the Eastern Conference with 37 points. Mike Lee made 27 saves in his first game back from the American Hockey League for the Gladiators, while Nathan Lieuwen made 29 saves to earn the win for Greenville (15-10-1-1).

Defenseman Kyle Haines scored the only goal of the opening period, as he took a centering pass and slipped a shot right between the legs of Lee to put Greenville ahead 1-0 at 15:25.

The Road Warriors added two more goals in the second, as Jordie Johnston (5:02) and Brandon Wong (7:38) found the back of the net on a couple of fortuitous bounces. The lone highlight of the period for Gwinnett was a penalty shot save on Greenville forward Jeremy Gouchie by Lee. Gouchie deked and tried to tuck the puck inside the far post, but Lee stuck with him all the way and easily turned away the chance.

The Gladiators finally scored late in the third. Tyler Murovich hammered home a rebound at the top of the crease with 36 seconds remaining on the power play with Jonathan Scrymgeour and Cody Carlson assisting, but it was too little too late.

The Gladiators are next in action Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in North Charleston against the South Carolina Stingrays.
