Last Week: The Toronto Marlies picked up two points in a pair of divisional games this past weekend.
On Saturday, Toronto defeated the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, by a score of 4-3 at Ricoh Coliseum. Nazem Kadri and Jake Gardiner continued their offensive production with three points each, while Ben Scrivens made 32 saves for the victory. Keith Aucoin also added two assists, moving him into a tie for 11th in all-time AHL scoring.
Aucoin now has 799 career AHL points. In their second game in less than 24 hours, the Marlies fell by a score of 3-2 against the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames. Toronto fought back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period, however, Roman Horak capitalized on a late powerplay opportunity to secure the win for the Heat.
Brad Ross recorded his first professional goal, while Ben Scrivens stopped 19 of 22 shots in the loss.
Look Ahead:
Toronto will take to the ice for two games this coming weekend.
On Saturday, Toronto will travel to the state of New York where they take on the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, for the fourth time in six games. Marcus Foligno paces the Amerks with 21 points in 22 games while David Leggio has posted a goals against average of 2.85 and a save percentage of 0.910.
The Marlies return home on Sunday afternoon for a 3 p.m.
contest with the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. The Griffins won the only other meeting between the two clubs this season in a shootout at Ricoh Coliseum.
Tomas Tatar paces Grand Rapids with 21 points in 22 games while goaltender Petr Mrazek has recorded seven wins in nine starts. Both games can be heard live on TSN 1050 in Toronto. Sunday's game will be broadcast on Rogers TV.
