Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Situation

Entering a third-straight week, Utah still has the best winning percentage in the Western Conference and a 5-1 record. 5-1 also ties Utah with Elmira and Kalamazoo in the Eastern Conference for the best records in the ECHL.

Another Conference Leader Clash

Utah (5-1) and Idaho (5-2-0-1) meet for the fourth time on the year Friday in Boise as the top two teams in the Western Conference. Utah has now won eight-straight games against the Steelheads overall and is 3-0 already this season against Idaho.

Another Solid Start

With their second-straight 5-1 start, Utah has matched their second-best start since the team moved to Utah in 1995. Only in 1996, did the Grizzlies start better with an 8-0 record.

October

Utah improved to 21-8-1-0 in October since Kevin Colley took over as Head Coach in 2008. That gives Utah the second most October wins in the ECHL over that time.

Goaltending

Andrew Engelage enters the week as the sole leader in ECHL wins with 5. He also leads the ECHL in minutes (369), saves (199) and two shootout wins.

Balanced Attack

Eight of Utah's 18 skaters, who have dressed this year, have already recorded a multiple-point game. Riley Armstrong, Mitch Wahl and Bryan Cameron have logged a three-point game.

Leading Scorer

Paul McIlveen has scored in five of six games and once again leads Utah in scoring with three goals and three assists. He has scored Utah's first goal in two-straight games. Both goals have come in the first six minutes of the contest.

Battling Back

Utah trailed by a goal in the third period in both games this past weekend, before tying the game and eventually winning both contests. Utah has only trailed for 29:03 of the 370:00 total minutes that they have played this year.

Visiting The Border States

The Grizzlies will visit Idaho Friday and then Colorado the following week for three games. This starts a stretch of seven of Utah's next eight games on the road.

Back Home

Utah returns home Monday, October 12 for Maverik Monday. With a receipt from Maverik, fans can purchase six lower bowl tickets for $30 at the arena box office. In addition, the first 1,000 fans will receive a free Grizzlies cup and a coupon for discounted Pepsi products throughout the season.

Thanksgiving Weekend

The Grizzlies next weekend home stand is Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 when they will host the Alaska Aces at 7 p.m. each night.
