Tucson Padres News Release
Game One - Colorado Springs 3 Tucson 2 (Eight Innings)
WP: Bergmann (3-3)
LP: Hamren (2-5)
S: Woods (11)
Time: 2:47

A close play at home plate gave the Colorado Springs Sky Sox the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning Friday and they held on to beat the Tucson Padres, 3-2. With Matt McBride at third base, Brandon Wood hit a ground ball to shortstop with the infield drawn in. Andy Parrino threw home to catcher Rocky Gale, who tagged McBride but not before McBride's foot touched home for the Sky Sox' third run.
Padres manager Terry Kennedy immediately argued the play. The Padres put two runners on base in the bottom of the eighth but could not score against Colorado Springs closer Coty Woods, who picked up his second save in as many games.
Game Two - Tucson 5 Colorado Springs 4 (Eight Innings)
WP: Kunz (3-1)
LP: Bibens-Dirkx (1-1)
S: None
Time: 2:38
Jedd Gyorko's bases loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning ended the Padres 5-4 victory in Game Two. (Minor league doubleheader games are seven inning games, so both games Friday were extra-inning contests.) The Padres trailed 4-2 in the sixth inning and scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Gyorko went 3-for-4 with three RBIs including the game-ending single to center.
Tucson starter Thad Weber pitched six innings in his Padres debut, allowing four runs on seven hits. Weber struck out six and did not walk a batter. Eddie Kunz pitched a scoreless top of the eighth and earned his third Triple-A win of the season.
Next Game: Saturday, 7:05 pm - Colorado Springs RHP Guillermo Moscoso (8-5, 6.25) vs. Tucson TBA. Post game fireworks spectacular. Game coverage begins at 6:50 pm on Tejano 1600 AM.
