The Amarillo Sox shut out St. Paul and allowed the Saints just four hits as the visiting Sox took the contest 2-0. 1B Tyler Goodrow broke the scoreless tie with a solo homerun to lead off the fifth inning. One inning later DH Chuck Lofgren knocked in the only other run of the game with an RBI single. Goodrow and Lofgren were the only players in the game to have more than one hit as they both finished with a pair. Starter Justin Garcia earned the win as he pitched. 7.2 scoreless innings and allowed just four hits. He struck out nine Saints in the game and is now 8-3 on the season, just one win shy of his 2011 mark. Closer Wes Littleton picked up the save as he worked a hitless ninth inning.
Gary SouthShore 10, Lincoln 4
Gary SouthShore 1B Brian Kolb's monster game at the plate lifted the RailCats over the Lincoln Saltdogs 10-4. Kolb, who went 4-for-5, got things started right away with two of his three RBI in coming in the first inning on a single. Kolb came around to score the first of his three runs two batters later on a single from DH Zac Mitchell. The RailCats held a four run lead after that first frame. RailCats CF Mike Massaro also had a nice game as he had three hits in six at bats. Saltdog LF Matt Forgatch generated half of his team's offense with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. The RailCats put the game away with three-run innings in the third and sixth frames.
Worcester, Kansas City (Postponed)
The inter-league contest between the Worcester Tornadoes and the Kansas City T-Bones has been postponed until Saturday. The game will be made up as the first game of a double header starting at 5:05 p.m.
Wichita 8, Winnipeg 3
The Wichita Wingnuts racked up fifteen hits as they toppled the Winnipeg Goldeyes 8-3. Five different Wingnuts had multi-hit games including three-hit performances from CF Mike Conroy and 2B Wilberto Ortiz. Wichita 3B Steve Carrillo had a team-high three RBI on a 2-for-4 night at the plate. The Goldeyes managed just three hits against the Wingnuts as starting pitcher Josh Lowey won his thirteenth game of the year. Lowey allowed three runs on two hits over seven innings. Already leading 5-3, the Wingnuts put the game out of reach with a three-run rally in the sixth inning. Carrillo doubled home a pair of runs with one out in the inning.
Fargo-Moorhead 8, Sioux Falls 6 (10 innings)
Fargo-Moorhead 3B Eric Campbell's extra inning two-run blast made the difference as the RedHawks edged the Sioux Falls Pheasants in 10 innings. RF Buddy Sosnoskie lead off the tenth with a double and Ryan Stovall came on to pinch run for Sosnoskie but it wouldn't matter as Campbell cleared the bases out with his seventh homer of the year. Campbell had a double earlier in game and finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of runs. LF Jon Gaston also homered in the game, a three-run shot in the third inning. The Pheasants were trailing by a run in the bottom of the ninth inning but leveled the score when 3B Jake Taylor scored on an error. Taylor was one of four Pheasants to have two hits in the game.
Laredo 8, Grand Prairie 6
The Laredo Lemurs turned a two-run deficit into a two run lead with a four-run seventh inning and went on to beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs 8-6. After the AirHogs walked in a run to start the seventh inning rally, back-to-back singles by RF Stephen Pearson and 2B Anthony Scelfo put the Lemurs up 8-6. Scelfo was 3-for-4 in the game. Laredo DH John Allen had a strong game as he had a team-high four hits including a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Though the AirHogs were outhit 15-12, all nine Grand Prairie batters had hit in the game and the first three batters in the order were each 2-for-4. Pitcher Edwin Walker was tabbed as the winner for his two innings of relief work in which he struck out three batters.
El Paso 13, Sioux City 12
The El Paso Diablos finished the night with a flurry to storm back and take the game from the Sioux City Explorers 13-12. The Diablos outscored the Explorers 9-1 in the last three innings to nip Sioux City in the Friday night affair. C Zane Chavez's single that scored DH Jermy Acey ended up being the game winning-run Chavez along with RF Welington Dotel both had impressive four-hit games. For Sioux City, RF Peter Barrows lead the way with a pair of doubles and a home run on his way to a game-high five RBI. All nine Diablos had a hit in the game and seven of them had multi-hit games. As a team, El Paso tallied 22 hits, ten more than the Explorers. P Ronny Morla earned the win as he worked the eighth inning and the save went to Chris Bodishbaugh for his efforts in the ninth.
