
Memphis Redbirds Kick off Elvis Week 2012 this Friday

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Greater Memphis Chamber, Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., Anheuser-Busch, Hard Rock Café and the Memphis Redbirds will host the largest Elvisé Week kick-off event in history this Friday, August 10.
The 35th Annual Elvisé Week to be held in Memphis from Friday, August 10 to Saturday, August 18, 2012, is expected to be the largest in history as fans from around the world travel to Memphis for the annual celebration of the life and legacy of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
The kickoff event for this nine-day commemoration of the life and legacy of the king of Rock 'n' Roll will begin with a blowout block party in downtown Memphis and an Elvisé themed Memphis Redbirds baseball game against the Tacoma Rainiers. At 5:00 p.m. Elvisé fans and local residents are invited to gather at AutoZone Park for a celebration that features live bands, fun giveaways, displays from many local attractions, classic cars and a special appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales. There will be a pre-game performance by Brad Birkdahl and a post-game performance by Ted Torez.
The first 5,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a commemorative, limited-edition Elvisé bobblehead. In addition to the baseball game, which features the Memphis Redbirds against the Tacoma Rainiers, spectators will enjoy Elvisé music and video throughout the game.
