Tony Abreu Selected as PCL Player of the Week

PAPILLION, Neb. - Tony Abreu has been given the nod by the Pacific Coast League as the Player of the Week for his performance from July 30th through August 5th. The Omaha infielder went on a tear and batted .458 (11-for-24) with two home runs, 12 runs batted in, three doubles and a triple in six games played. Abreu is the fourth Storm Chaser and the second position player to be tabbed as a PCL Pitcher/Player of the Week.

Abreu, who was just promoted to the Major Leagues by Kansas City on August 5th, has been a key piece in the Chasers race to repeat as American Conference Northern Division champions and has batted .322 with nine home runs and a team-high 73 RBI. The 27-year-old has spent parts of three seasons in the bigs for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks and has hit .251 with 3 homers and 31 RBI in 146 games.
