
OF Melky Mesa Promoted to Triple-A Scranton

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Thursday that outfielder Melky Mesa has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton. There is no corresponding roster move at the present time, so the Thunder stand at 24 active players (one below the maximum).
Mesa, a member of the Yankees 40-man roster, batted .277 in 88 games with the Thunder this season along with 14 home runs, 46 RBI and 17 stolen bases. The all-star centerfielder ended his stint in Trenton on a season-high eight-game hitting streak from July 24 through August 1. He commited only one error in the outfield all season.
