Rock Cats Play Three Against Altoona During Historic Weekend Series

New Britain, CT- The Rock Cats, who are wrapping up their 7 game/8 day road trip on Thursday, will host the Altoona Curve, Double A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, for the only time in 2012 from Friday Aug. 3rd to Sunday Aug. 5th.

On Saturday, the Rock Cats will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Professional Baseball in the city of New Britain with a special appearance by former New Britain Red Sox and 18 year MLB veteran, Ellis Burks! The two time Major League All-Star will be available for autographs and photos prior to Saturday's game.

Fans interested in this autograph opportunity should contact the Rock Cats Box Office at 860-224-8383 to purchase an Ellis Burks ticket pack, which includes 5 Reserved seat tickets and special access to this autograph session. A portion of these ticket sales benefit local charities.

DATTCO and Stone Academy proudly present the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Professional Baseball in New Britain, featuring an autograph and photo session with Special Guest Ellis Burks, presented by MRI of New Britain. Following the game will be our post-game launch-a-ball. Pre-game block party sponsored by Guida's Dairy and Clear Channel, will be filled with fun activities and specials such as our "Heineken Happy Hour".

Saturday is also Scout Night Sleepover at the ballpark. Scouts from all over the state and Western MA will be in attendance and then will camp out in the outfield following the game.

New Britain Stadium is host for the day to a mesmerizing acrobatic group made popular through their time on the national hit television show "America's Got Talent"...The Russian Bar Trio! They will be performing their daredevil act as part of our in-game entertainment Chase Parkway Volvo is sponsoring our t-shirt giveaway. Sunday is the return of the fan-favorite Scooper Sunday to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Starting at noon, fans can make a $6.00 donation and enjoy an all-you-can-eat ice cream sampling from 9 different local ice cream providers. As always, Sunday is Family Fun Day presented by Barnum Financial Group, with our post-game Kids Run The Bases. Lastly, Sunday is also our Irving Gas Rewards Day. Show your Irving Rewards Card at the Box Office and receive a General Admission ticket to that day's game for the price of a gallon of gasoline.

Altoona Team Notes

The Curve visits New Britain Stadium for the first and only time during the 2012 season and they are led by Pittsburgh's Number 1 prospect Pitcher Gerrit Cole (2-4, 3.94 ERA) and Second Baseman Brock Holt (.323, 6 Triples, 42 RBI's) They currently sit fourth in the Eastern League - Western Division, 10 and a half games behind first place Akron.
