Dragons Announce July Player of the Month Nominees

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons have announced their nominees for the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for July. Fans can go to www.daytondragons.com to vote for the players whom they who they feel are most deserving of the award based on the month.

Each month, three hitters and three pitchers will be selected as nominees based on their performances on the field. The winning players will be honored on Thursday, August 2nd during an inning break of the Dragons game. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon on Friday, August 3rd at Frisch's Big Boy, 2861 Wilmington Pike in Dayton. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.

Below are the nominees for July (Statistics for games in the month of July only; through games of July 29):

Hitter of the Month Nominees:

- Yorman Rodriguez (outfielder): Batting a team-leading .333 with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 12 runs batted in. Rodriguez leads the team with a .510 slugging percentage.

- Juan Perez (shortstop): Batting .271 with four doubles, two triples, three home runs and nine runs batted in.

- Ryan Wright (second baseman): Batting .255 with five doubles, one triple, four home runs and 12 runs batted in.

Pitcher of the Month Nominees:

- Mike Dennhardt: In nine relief appearances, has not allowed a run in 14 innings with a record of 1-0. Opposing batters are hitting a combined .157 against him.

- Carlos Contreras: In nine relief appearances, has a team-leading five saves and a 3.86 ERA. No wins or losses.

- Carlos Gonzalez: In seven appearances (two starts), has gone 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA. Tied for team lead in wins.
