BURLINGTON, Iowa - Solid pitching and collecting hits in bunches allowed the Kernels to top Burlington 5-1 at Community Field on Sunday afternoon. Eswarlin Jimenez (5-4) went five innings to get the win. The Kernels used three straight hits in the 4th and 5th innings to pull away for the victory and snap a 4-game losing streak.

Jimenez (5-4) allowed runners in each of his five innings, but only allowed one run on six hits. He struck out three, hit three batters, and walked none.

The Bees loaded the bases with no outs in the 1st inning after Jimenez hit the first two batters and allowed a single. After a force out at home, Jimenez induced a double play to get out the inning.

In the 3rd inning the Bees plated a run to tie the game 1-1. Sean Jamieson led off with a double and later scored on a RBI sacrifice fly by Rashun Dixon.

Three straight Kernels hits in the 4th inning led to a 3-1 lead for Cedar Rapids. Alex Yarbrough and Andy Workman started the frame with singles, and Zach Borenstein followed with a RBI double to score Yarbrough. Workman later scored on a RBI groundout by Matt Scioscia.

The first two Bees hitters reached in the bottom 4th inning, but Jimenez retired the final three to keep the lead.
