Dayton, OH - The Clinton LumberKings have their second Midwest League Player of the Week. Thanks to the 21st no- hitter in Clinton baseball history, Jordan Shipers has been named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for July 9-July 15. The no-hitter was Shipers' fourth win of the year and his second complete-game shutout in 2012. He allowed three hits in nine innings against Burlington in a 4-0 win on May 5.

Shipers had a phenomenal start to his 2012 campaign as he was 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in his first eight starts. The left- hander struggled for five starts after that, losing three consecutive decisions from June 1-June 11. However, he got back on track after the rough patch and had four stellar outings topped off by the no-hitter on July 11 against West Michigan. It was the first LumberKings no-hitter since Domingo Valdez tossed a seven-inning no-hitter on July 9, 2003 against Kane County. Shipers, a Missouri native, is only the sixth pitcher in the 76-year history of Clinton baseball to throw a nine-inning no-hitter.

Shipers joins Ji-Man Choi as LumberKings to have been honored with a Midwest League Player of the Week award in 2012. The first baseman was named Offensive Player of the Week for June 25-July 1. The last Clinton pitcher to win the award was Stephen Kohlscheen in the first week of August 2011.
