Missions Take Naturals 3-2

San Antonio - San Antonio Missions extended their win streak to eight games with a 3-2 victory over the NW Arkansas Travelers in the first game of the three game series. The last time San Antonio won eight straight games, was May 31 to June 8, 2008.

The Naturals were the first on the board with an unearned run in the fourth inning, making it 1-0.

Each starting pitcher carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, until Missions' second baseman Jonathan Galvez singled to left for the first hit of the game. Nate Freiman would follow with a double, crushing the ball to the outfield wall to bring home Galvez with the tying run. Cody Decker followed suit with a two-out RBI double scoring Freiman for a 2-1 Missions lead.

NW Arkansas would answer back in the seventh with Paulo Orlando's lead off triple that turned into the tying run.

The game would remain tied at two until the bottom of the 11th when two walks and a single would load the bases. San Antonio took the win on a bases loaded walk by Reymond Fuentes, keeping them in first in the Texas League South Division at 8-1.

Missions' starter Donn Roach received a no decision in his first Double-A start, despite not surrendering a hit and allowing just one unearned run in his six innings of work.

The second game of the series versus the Naturals is Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Ethan Hollingsworth (0-3, 5.83 ERA) will be the visiting team starter as Missions righty Keyvius Sampson (3-7, 5.90 ERA) will take the mound.

Tomorrow is $2 Tuesday with $2 Reserved tickets, $2 parking, $2 draft beer, and $2 Kiolbassa sausages.
