WOODBRIDGE, VA (JUNE 22, 2012) - The Potomac Nationals took advantage of a season-high 13 walks from Winston-Salem pitching to win their second straight game over the Dash 6-2 Friday night at Pfitzner Stadium.

The Nationals (2-0, 33-39) scored in four different innings, and five of the six runners who came around to score originally reached thanks to a walk. Winston-Salem (0-2, 44-27-1) starter Jon Bachanov (5-2) issued seven walks and surrendered five runs, four of which were earned, on just three hits.

Potomac pulled away with a three-run fifth inning. With one down, Bachanov walked the bases loaded before exiting in lieu of J.R. Ballinger. Ballinger whiffed big league rehabber Carlos Maldonado but walked Jason Martinson to push home a run. Michael Taylor then singled home a pair to push the Nationals' lead to 5-1.

For the second straight game, the Dash jumped out to a first-inning advantage. Marcus Semien, who led off Thursday's game with a home run, doubled down the left field line. Three batters later, Dan Black sizzled an RBI single to right to give the Dash a 1-0 lead.

The only other Winston-Salem run came in the seventh. Trayce Thompson laced a solo shot beyond the boards in left for his 12th long ball of the season. Thompson is tied for the league lead in homers, and he has driven in 51 runs.

The lone pitcher to post a solid outing for the Dash was Justin Collop. Collop held the Nationals scoreless in two and a third innings. The Wayne, Mich., native struck out five and worked around two walks and a hit.

The Dash went 9-2 against the P-Nats and a league-best 30-11 against Northern Division foes during the season's first half. However, Winston-Salem has dropped two straight to start half two in both categories.

Winston-Salem aims to avoid its first sweep of the season Saturday night at 6:35. The Dash send right-hander Jake Petricka (4-4, 5.34 ERA) to the mound against southpaw Matt Grace (4-6, 5.24 ERA). Pre-game coverage on wsdash.com begins at 6:20.

The Dash return to BB&T Ballpark for a week-long homestand Sunday afternoon at 5:00. Winston-Salem entertains Salem for a four-game series and Frederick for three games. For more information or to purchase your tickets, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287.
