David Freitas Named Starter in California-Carolina League All-Star Game

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - David Freitas of the Potomac Nationals has been named the starting catcher in the California-Carolina League All-Star game. It is the third straight season Freitas will start in an All-Star game.
Freitas, 23, leads qualified Carolina League catchers in average (.282) and on-base percentage (.386) which also both lead Potomac batters. Defensively, Freitas leads the circuit with 45 and is second in caught stealing percentage at 38.6%. He is also part of a Potomac catching unit that has had just three passed balls which is the best mark in the league.
This is the third straight year Freitas has been named a starter in an All-Star game in his three year professional career. In 2010, Freitas started the National League team in the New York-Penn League All-Star game in Staten Island, New York. Last year, he was selected to start for the North team in the South Atlantic All-Star game in Salisbury, Maryland.
The 2012 Calfornia-Carolina League All-Star game takes place on Tuesday, June 19th at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at 7:15 PM. For tickets and more information, visit www.wsdash.com.
Tonight Freitas and Potomac start a three-game series at the site of the All-Star Game: BB&T Ballpark against the Winson-Salem Dash at 7:00 PM.
