LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets scored nine runs in the second inning to defeat the Trenton Thunder by a 12-3 score in the rubber match of a three-game series. The B-Mets matched a season-high with 15 hits and set a season-high in runs scored. Binghamton collected six hits in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Travis Ozga. Zack Wheelerearned his third win in as many starts by striking out eight over season-high seven innings. Seven different B-Mets collected multiple hits, including Matt den Dekker who led the offense with three hits.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Gonzalez Germen (1-1, 5.54) makes his third Double-A start after being promoted from St. Lucie (High-A) on May 4. He earned his first Double-A win in his previous start against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on May 11. He allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out three over seven innings. Germen went 3-0 with a 3.04 ERA in five games (four starts) in the Florida State League before his promotion. Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of La Romana, Dominican Republic in October 2007, German began his pro career in the DSL.

RHP Billy Buckner (1-3, 4.10) takes the mound for his eighth start of the season and third against the B-Mets. The Georgia native comes off a loss against the Trenton Thunder in his previous start on May 12. He surrendered three runs on five hits over 5.1 innings The righty struck out five and walked a season-high three. Buckner was originally selected by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2004 draft. He pitched for five seasons in the Royals system and made his Major League debut with the club in 2007. He also pitched three seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks system, making 26 appearances with the Big League club. He spent part of 2010 with the Tigers' system and all of 2011 with the Colorado Rockies organization.

THE BIG INNING: The B-Mets sent 12 men to the plate in the second inning last night, scoring nine runs on six hits. It was the most runs the B-Mets have scored in one frame since they plated nine runs in the 3rd inning against the Reading Phillies on August 14, 2010.

TURNING IT AROUND: After starting the month of May by dropping six of their first eight, the B-Mets have won five of their last seven games. Binghamton lost their first three series in May before winning two in a row prior to this series against Portland.

STREAKING ALONG: B-Mets outfielder Matt den Dekker extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a 3-for-4 performance last night. He has hit .353 (18-for-51) during the streak, the longest for any B-Met in 2012. Juan Lagares has hit safely in ten straight games.

FANNING AWAY: The B-Mets struck out 13 times last night, setting a new season-high. Binghamton has struck out 303 times this season, the most out of any Eastern League time.

POUNDING THE PAVEMENT: The B-Mets start a seven-game roadtrip tonight. Of their final 21 games in May, 14 are away from home.

CLIMBING BACK TO .500: Last night's win pushed Binghamton back to .500 (19-19) for the first time since May 3 when they were 13-13.

AGAINST THE SEA DOGS: The B-Mets have gone 6-2 versus Portland in 2012, including a 2-2 mark at Hadlock Field. Binghamton has won the last five meetings.

INDIVIDUALLY VERSUS PORTLAND: Josh Rodriguez is hitting .481 (13-for-27) in seven games versus the Sea Dogs. Juan Lagares is batting .321 (9-for-28) against Portland.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM. RHP Jenrry Mejia takes the mound for Binghamton in a rehab start.
