GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (5/16/12) - The Bees' offense completed a successful comeback in the top of the eighth inning, but lost 5-to-4 in the tenth inning to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The loss extends the Bees' longest losing streak on the 2012 schedule to five games.

The Timber Rattlers came into the series with one of the best records in the Midwest League's western division, but recently fell out of first place after losing their last three. The Bees and Timber Rattlers were tied on the season with each team winning three out of six games.

Brent Powers made his second start of the season for the Bees and quickly surrendered two runs in the bottom of the first. Major Leaguer, Carlos Gomez scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly ball from Nick Ramirez. Gomez's rehab assignment with the Timber Rattlers is his third in three years; he's scheduled to play in all three games against the Bees. Powers allowed another run to score in the first and the Bees trailed 2-to-0 early.

Powers pitched a stressful five innings in his second start of the year. The lefty allowed a base runner in all five innings and gave up solo home runs to Ben McMahan and Jason Rogers before his outing was over. Powers gave up eight hits, four runs (three earned), two walks, and two homers in five innings. He also struck out five batters.

For the first time in four games the Bees offense offered their pitcher some support. Sean Jamieson hit his first home run of the year over the leftfield wall in the sixth inning. With Wisconsin leading 4-to-1 after seven innings, the Bees unleashed a new look in the top of the eighth.

After not walking once through the first seven innings, the Bees forced four walks in the top of the eighth. Wade Kirkland led the charge with a lead off walk and moved to third base when Bobby Crocker drilled a double into right-centerfield. Chih-Fang Pan followed with a walk to load the bases for Aaron Shipman. Shipman showed his trademark patience and earned another walk, which forced in a run. Jamieson did the same as Shipman and cut the deficit to one run. With nobody out and the bases still loaded, Royce Consigli hit a sacrifice fly to complete the comeback and tie the game at 4-to-4.

Seth Frankoff did his part in relief; the tall right-hander took over to start the bottom of the sixth and pitched nearly perfect baseball through four innings. He struck out five batters by the end of the ninth inning and received help from his defense as well. In fact, Crocker made the best catch any Bees outfielder has made this year when he dove into the right-centerfield gap on a full-sprint to rob Ben McMahan of a two-out extra-base hit in the eighth.

The Bees loaded the bases in the top of the tenth, but B.A. Vollmuth hit an inning-ending double play before the Bees could score a go-ahead run.

Unfortunately the Timber Rattlers ruined the Bees' comeback and took advantage of the Bees wasting an oppor-

tunity in the tenth. Wisconsin received a one-out double from Max Wall in the bottom of the tenth. The Bees let Frankoff walk Rogers before removing him for Jeff Urlaub. The lefty faced Nick Ramirez with one out and two runners on and the still tied.

But the Bees' first successful day at the dish came to an end Ramirez drove a pitch to the leftfield wall. The Bees' leftfielder, Royce Consigli chased after the fly ball, but couldn't run it down and the Timber Rattlers won with a walk-off hit. Frankoff (0-2) took the loss and Tommy Toledo (5-0) earned his fifth win for Wisconsin. The final score was 5-to-4 in ten innings.

The Bees play game two in Wisconsin on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. For information on the Bees schedule, call (319) 754-5705 or visit www.gobees.com.
