Eury Perez Leads Senators to 3-1 Win over Richmond

May 16, 2012 - Eastern League (EL) Harrisburg Senators

Eury Perez drove in two of the Senators runs and scored the other in a 3-1 win over Richmond on Wednesday night. Perez had two doubles in the game and stole two bases as the Senators won for the fifth straight game. Jeff Mandel pitched 7.2 innings to earn the win and move to 4-2 on the season. Harrisburg improves to 22-16 while Richmond falls to 19-20 on the season.

Perez reached on a bunt single to open the game, stole second, and scored when Richmond center fielder Gary Brown bobbled Jesus Valdez's single. After Richmond tied the score in the bottm of the fourth, the Senators came right back in the fifth to take the lead.

In the fifth with one out, Chris McConnell singled, then Jeff Mandel singled moving runners to first and second. Perez followed with a double to the wall in left, scoing McConnell, giving the Sens a 2-1 lead.

Harrisburg tacked on an insurance run in the ninth when Eury Perez singled in Stephen King. The Sens with 11 hits in the game makes the fourth game on the road trip Harrisburg has had at least 10 hits.

Erik Davis came on in relief of Mandel and walked a batter and then retired the final batter in the eighth. Hector Nelo allowed a one-out double in the ninth, but Nelo retired the final two batters for his third save on the season.

The final game of the Sens road trip and the three-game series in Richmond is Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. with LH Danny Rosenbaum on the hill for Harrisburg against RH Craig Heston for Richmond. Rosenbaum and Heston are the top two pitchers in the league.
