San Antonio Missions News Release

San Antonio - The Missions overcame an eight-run deficit and rallied to tie the game but Corpus Christi scored twice in the ninth to defeat San Antonio 11-9 Wednesday afternoon at Wolff Stadium.

San Antonio trailed 9-1 heading in to the bottom of the fifth but Edinson Rincon's third home run of the season, a solo shot, made it 9-2.

The Missions continued to chip away at the Hooks lead in the following inning as they got to within four after an RBI double from Nate Freiman, an RBI single by Jonathan Galvez and a bases loaded walk by Jeudy Valdez. With the bags still full, Ali Solis hit the first pitch he saw from Corpus reliever Josh Zeid over the fence in left to tie the game at 9-9. It was Solis' third homer of the season and San Antonio's first grand slam of the year.

The Missions had a chance to take the lead in the eighth as they loaded the bases once again, but failed to get a run in. The Hooks scored both of their runs in their half of the ninth with two outs.

The fourth and final game of the series and the home stand is tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Corpus right-hander Jake Buchanan (1-2, 4.75 ERA) will start for the Hooks and lefty Mark Hardy, just called up from Class-A Lake Elsinore, takes the hill for the Missions.

Tomorrow is also a Cricket Dollar Night with dollar beer, dollar hot dogs, dollar popcorn and dollar sodas.

You can catch all the Missions action on KKYX 680 AM, the home of Missions baseball with Roy Acuff and Mike Saeger.
