Richmond, VA - Mike Kickham tossed 6.1 scoreless innings to lead the Richmond Flying Squirrels (18-18) to a 2-0 win over the Bowie Baysox (15-20) on Saturday night.
Kickham picked up his second win of the season allowing just six hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
On the other side, Zach Clark worked five shutout innings to begin the game, but in the sixth, Johnny Monell led off with a solo home run to put Richmond in front 1-0.
Then in the eighth, Monell hit his second home run of the game to extend the lead to 2-0.
Clark ended up pitching an eight inning complete game. He allowed just six hits and the two runs in the game, but got his third loss of the season. It was Clark's fifth consecutive quality start.
Brett Bochy pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Squirrels to pick up his third save of the season.
The two teams will wrap up the four-game series tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. RHP Tim Bascom (2-1, 3.72) will take on RHP Justin Fitzgerald (2-1, 2.70).
The Baysox return home on May 15 for a four-game series against the Altoona Curve. The series will include a Military Appreciation Night on Wednesday, May 16.
