Kane County Cougars News Release
BELOIT, Wisc. - An early 4-0 advantage nearly disappeared, but the Kane County Cougars held on for a 4-3 victory over the Beloit Snappers on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field, earning a draw in the four-game series.
Orlando Calixte set the Cougars (15-17) off on the right foot with his third home run of the season coming to lead off the top of the second. In the third, the Cougars added to the lead as Jin-Ho Shin doubled and scored on an error by second baseman A.J. Pettersen. Lane Adams singled Trapp to the dish, putting the Cougars up by three. Runey Davis clobbered his second dinger of the series in the fourth against Matt Tomshaw (1-1) to make it 4-0, Cougars.
Tomshaw worked five frames while allowing all four tallies on six hits. Edwin Carl (2-2) also tossed five innings, but he blanked Beloit (18-14) while scattering five singles and fanning six. Matt Ridings worked a pair of perfect innings before Jonathan Dooley entered the contest.
Dooley had some issues as he surrendered three runs on three knocks over the final two innings. Pettersen started the eighth with a single and came home on a blast from Miguel Sano. It was Sano's 10th this season and fifth against Kane County. In the ninth, Sano was left in the on-deck circle as Pettersen struck out to end the ballgame, leaving the tying run, Tyler Grimes, on third.
