Ortiz Placed On Suspended List; Duran Reinstated To Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that INF Jaime Ortiz has been placed on the suspended list in a move Thursday April 19, 2012. In a corresponding roster move, INF German Duran has been reinstated to the active roster. Duran is available for Thursday's contest in Pensacola, Fla.

Ortiz, in 14 games with the Suns in 2012, hit .188 with one homerun and four runs batted in and two runs scored. Ortiz led the team in total games played, playing in every game this season.

Duran, played for Grand Prairie in the Independent-Yucatan Mexican League in 2011 and has major league time in 2008 when he played in 60 games for the Texas Rangers. Duran was signed as a minor league free agent in December of 2011. Duran will be assigned a number prior to the series finale in Pensacola, Fla.
