Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT - The Silvertips are bringing playoff hockey back to Everett as their first-round series against the Tri-City Americans shifts to Comcast Arena for the next two games. The best-of-seven series continues tomorrow with Game 3 and Wednesday with Game 4 in downtown Everett. Both games are set to face-off at 7:05 pm.
Silvertips playoff ticket packages and group tickets can be purchased by phone at 425-252-5100 or in person at the team office inside Comcast Arena. One suite is also available for both of this week's home games at nearly half off the regular price for 12 tickets and four parking passes. Inquire at the Silvertips office for more information. Single game tickets are on sale by phone (866-332-8499), online (www.comcastarenaeverett.com) or at the Comcast Arena box office.
After a second-half turnaround that pushed Everett into the playoffs as the #8 seed in the Western Conference, the Silvertips are now facing the top-seeded and U.S. Division Champion Tri-City Americans in the first round of the playoffs. Tri-City maintained its home-ice advantage in the first two games of the series, beating the Silvertips 3-1 in a tightly contested Game 2 Saturday night after taking the first game 7-2 Friday at the Toyota Center. Now the 'Tips will look to reverse their fortunes on their home ice at Comcast Arena, where the club won seven of its last ten regular season games. Everett won two of four regular season home games against the Americans.
The division rivals have met twice previously in the playoffs, first in 2006 when the second-seeded Silvertips dispatched the Americans in five games and advanced to the Conference Finals before falling to the eventual-league champion Vancouver Giants. Tri-City (also as a #2 seed) then countered with a five-game series win three years ago in 2009, but was beaten by Kelowna in the second round as the Rockets went on to win the WHL title. The 'Tips and Ams have combined to win six of the last seven U.S. Division titles and are the only two teams in the division to qualify for the playoffs in each of the past nine seasons.
As long as the Silvertips are able to earn at least one win at home, the series will continue after Wednesday with Game 5 in Kennewick on Saturday. If necessary, Game 6 would then be in Everett on Monday, April 2, with Game 7 to follow back in the Tri-Cities on Wednesday, April 4.
