Victoria, BC - In a Sunday afternoon match-up at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, the Victoria Royals squared off against the Vancouver Giants in the second game of a doubleheader. Victoria started Jared Rathjen in net while Vancouver gave the nod to Adam Morrison.

The Giants broke open the scoring early on a goal from Riley Kieser 15 seconds into the first frame. Rathjen got his pad on Brendan Gallagher's initial shot, but Kieser found the back of the net as he banged home the loose puck in the crease. The marker would hold up as the lone goal of the period giving Vancouver a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Vancouver added their second of the game from David Musil at 3:45 of the second period. Cain Franson centered a pass in front that banked off two Royals' players before Musil buried the rebound on the powerplay. The Giants extended their lead to three just before the halfway mark as Tyler Vanscourt converted on a saucer pass from Marek Tvrdon. Vancouver would tack on two more before the end of the period to take a 5-0 lead into the final frame.

Victoria made a goaltending to change to begin the third period as Keith Hamilton replaced Rathjen in net. Vancouver added their sixth of the afternoon from Franson at 6:22 of the final frame. Giants 6 Royals 0.

Victoria went 0/3 0.0% on the power play, while Vancouver was 1/7 14.29%. The Giants outshot the Royals 37-18.

The Royals are in action again Wednesday, March 7th as they travel to Everett to take on the Silvertips.
