Kelowna Rockets News Release
Zach Franko scored the overtime winner as the Kelowna Rockets came from behind to defeat the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 in an entertaining Western Hockey League game at Prospera Place in Kelowna on Saturday night.
Franko's sharp angle shot beat Kamloops netminder Cole Cheveldave high on the blocker side, completing a comeback from 2-0 down early in the game and giving the Rockets two wins over Kamloops this weekend.
The Blazers led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 early in the second before the Rockets scored three straight goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead. Brett Bulmer, Mitchell Chapman and Madison Bowey had the Rockets markers.
Austin Madaisky, Bronson Maschmeyer and Dylan Willick replied for the Blazers who tied the game before the end of the second. A scoreless third period set the stage for Franko's game winner, his seventh game winning goal of the season.
The win followed a 6-3 win by Kelowna in Kamloops on Friday night.
The Rockets now head for a Wednesday night road game in Spokane before returning home next weekend to host the Victoria Royals and Prince George Cougars next Friday and Saturday nights at Prospera Place.
